Liz Brand has been passionate about wildlife since a very early age. Encouraged by her parents, she endeavored to not only learn about animals in her backyard, but also to teach other neighborhood kids everything she learned. Liz had the opportunity to explore habitats all over the country while traveling with her military family. From studying toads to bringing an alligator lizard in to class for show and tell, she exhibited a particular fondness for herpetology. In high school she discovered her passion for environmental science and accompanied her Envirothon team to the State Tournament.

Liz  has a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the University of New Hampshire and a Master's Degree in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins. She is a Certified Interpretive Guide (NAI) experienced in working with raptors, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, hoofstock, fish and has provided interpretive programming with all age audiences for more than 10 years.

Liz has pursued a career in wildlife education with an array of audiences and animals at the Philadelphia Zoo and working for Reptiles Alive LLC. She currently works with Loudoun County Parks, Recreation, and Community Service as a Naturalist at the Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park.

Liz began volunteering at Secret Garden Birds & Bees in 2018 to expand her wildlife education skills and learn about handling and care of hawks and owls.
